Out of the dark ages...

Finally, after nearly two years of Life in London i am able to access the internet from home. Actually i thought they were pretty swift. I can now sit in my pants and write this blog from the comfort of my own armchair, rather than try to sneak in a few words here and there during the daily grind in the office.

You may ask yourself, why the hell has he only just got the internet? Oh i bet it was because he didn't want to pay the phone line connection fee!? Well, you'd be absolutely right. To be honest i never really needed the internet from home, if i really needed to order or arrange anything online i would do it at work and after a while of not having access all the time, you realise you don't really need it all the time.

Now, after hearing this you may now wander just why the hell i have finally unleashed the wild world of the web (thats what is stands for right?) into the area in which i reside!? Well, as from this coming Thursday i will no longer be working from the office.

(2 and a half weeks later)
continued.....
That office seems a million years away now and, after just seeing Darren Fletcher score man utd's fourth goal against AC Milan in a game that i have also seen Ji Sung Park bag a goal i wander what the hell is happening in life. It's fun to write a blog while having something to take your mind off it in the bg, although utd winning 4-0 certainly wouldn't be my preferred option. I might bang on a light hearted film such as back to the future, or die hard with avengence to ease the pain. Still Liverpool are doing really well, who would have thought, just a year ago we lost 4-0 against Real Madrid in that champions league thing and now we are beating teams like Wigan 1-0! amazing. On a serious note i really hope Benitez leaves at the end of the season he is killing any joy i have when watching Liverpool play at the moment.

Internet, from home... yes thats what i was writing about. Jeez this working from home malarky certainly gets you sound tracked (or should that be side tracked im not really sure), just as i type this that fat dude with the crazy zig-zag tash is singing 'go compare' in his supreme operatic voice, i don't stand a chance, i just have to look up and sing a long to it! Anyway, i no longer live in a mud hut, a cave or even a medieval castle, i live in a fully operational internet ready realm in which i can search, type away and get side-tracked as much as i like, I can't wait to see the doc get shot by those libians.

2 atoms and agatha christie = 'the glory days'

What a beautiful four days it has been, long live the sunshine kid!! As i sit at my desk throughout the day, listening to the hustle and bustle of the energetic Soho streets below, my only getaway is the church park at the end of the road. One lunch hour under the glorious sun beam of life, surrounded by a vibrant sea of green is enough. I tell myself it is enough, that this life of grey, black, brown dull dull, dull colours is good for me, good for the soul and of course, good for the CV.

It wasn't always like this, not long ago i couldn't get out of the parks and out of the sunshine, always a game of footy or frisbee to be played. A day at the beach or just walking the dog in the park. There were also days when i would be running for shade and often enjoyed the comfort of my own sofa on a beautiful day! Days when i would rather complete resident evil 4 or play a whole season on pro evolution soccer just to get to negotiations at the end! Not anymore. Never again will i take for granted a nice sunny day, the ability to just lounge around in the park and basically do bugger all but sit in the sun.

I know of a classic saying 'the grass is always greener on the other side', well in this case i do believe its true! the other side either being a) summer b) not living in London or c) Not working in post-production!

Still its not all bad, i still firmly believe that experiencing luxuries in small doses is better for the soul than having too much of it and taking it for granted. The great Rohl Dahl lived by these rules, he is a constant reminder to us all that you are going to fall in a river of chocolate and get sucked up a tube if you are too greedy, or that if you have too much of something, and that it is no-longer exciting or enjoyable, you begin to expect it.

To think of having a whole day in the sun at the moment seems like a massive luxury, and i will throughly enjoy it when that day comes and especially when the days are longer. Actually i can't bloody wait to for it to still be light outside when i exit the working environment full of beans because i know as soon as i get home, i will be charging around a field after that 'bag of air' as my dad would say, without a care in the world!

I don't think it will be too long for 'the glory days' to re-appear, those day when you dare venture to work in a t-shirt and not have to worry about it pissing it down on the return leg. Until these days come however, i think i'll play some more on Resident Evil 5 and wear my coat to work!

Skipping lunch???

Skipping lunch is probably the worst idea since Chris Waddle went for a blast in the top corner rather than pass it to one side of the net during that fateful night back in 1990. Yes, everyone knows the one so i will not dabble in the finer points of the evening. Skipping lunch, as i vowed to do after thoroughly enjoying that big daddy meal from BK meal yesterday was never actaully an option, just like Waddle bagging that penalty was never an option. I have recently discovered that Marks & Spencer offer a cracking lunchtime deal which includes a sandwich, packet of crisps and some fizzy orange pop all for £2!! I believe this is what people call 'value for money'. Or a billy bargain, depending on where you were brought up. Continuing on the topic of regional language differentiation, it took me ages to realise that the word 'cob' up north means bun or roll, so when my newly aquainted uni flatmate once asked me if i want chips in my cob i replied 'i'll just stick to sweetcorn please' like a ruddy idiot! baring down upon the 1 o'clock feasting window of great times is always an intense and uncanny period of time, one of which i feel at one with the whole nation, almost as if our eyes become one as we seek out that configuration of numbers that read 13:00. Weather it be on the wall, on your wrist or at the bottom right hand of our screens, the whole nation breathes together. And on that bombshell i think to myself... Fuck M&S, ill have a ham and egg cob for lunch today.

Nearly Lunchtime

As i sit at my desk, counting down the lovely 20 minutes left until i enjoy scanning the reduced section in Tescos i am content. Pondering the many culinary delights tesco has to offer can be somewhat enchanting among the bustling atmosphere of a busy post-production house in Soho. With the weekend over and a new week beginning i always have the revolutionary plan to spend little- therefore saving money and eating less, which surely means more healthy... With these liberated thoughts fresh in my mind and only 10 minutes left on the clock (Yes i am i slow typer, and yes i have squeezed in some actual work during the process of this minature blog, i've cleared at least 100kb from my inbox!!) i am even more content than 10 minutes ago. At the peak of my revitalised world i hear that little siren, peer towards the bottom right hand corner of my screen and behold, see the words BURGER KING in its shiny, glistening, beautiful glory. Within minutes i know i will go from my previous 'content' state to 'satisfied', with greasy burger juice dripping off my chin and a grin that would make a chesire cat purr. I'll skip lunch tomorrow to make up for it..
